padron-3000-natural-5-5-x-52
Padron 3000 Natural (5.5" x 52)

The Padron 3000 Natural is a medium-to-full box-pressed robusto measuring 5.5 x 52 from Padrón's Thousand Series, which Padrón calls the Padrón Series. It is a Nicaraguan puro, with a Nicaraguan natural wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler, all sun-grown, aged at least two and a half years, and rolled at Padrón's own factory in Estelí.

Wrapper and Blend

The Padron 3000 Natural uses a Nicaraguan natural wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan long-filler tobaccos, all grown by the Padrón family in Nicaragua. The numbers denote size, not a different blend.

The natural wrapper is the lighter of the two leaves on this line and gives a drier, wood-forward character; the same 5.5 x 52 size is also made with a maduro wrapper.

Format and Size

The Padron 3000 Natural measures 5.5 inches long with a 52 ring gauge, about 0.81 inches in diameter. The 6000 shares the exact 5.5 x 52 dimensions but finishes in a pointed torpedo head, while the 2000 is half an inch shorter at 5 x 50.

Strength and Flavor Profile

TRP lists the Padron 3000 Natural as medium to full in strength. Its flavor notes are cedar, earth, leather, coffee, cocoa, roasted nuts, cherry. Reviewers find a hint of cherry sweetness on the cold draw, cedar with earth and leather in the first third, coffee and cocoa taking over in the middle with a creamy finish, and nuttiness and cedar toward the end.

Line History and Production

Padrón dates the Padrón Series to 1964, the year José Orlando Padrón founded the company in Miami after leaving Cuba. Today it runs to fifteen medium- to full-bodied sizes, from the Corticos to the Magnum, each in natural and maduro; the numbered 2000 to 7000 sizes give it the Thousand Series name. Its tobacco is aged at least two and a half years, against at least four for the 1964 Anniversary Series. The 3000 is regular production at Tabacos Cubanica S.A. in Estelí.

Who It Suits and How to Enjoy It

The Padron 3000 Natural suits smokers who want an everyday Padrón before moving up to the 1964 Anniversary or 1926 lines. It gives a little more time with the blend than the 2000. It pairs well with medium roast or espresso, and with bourbon, añejo rum or rye whiskey. Store it at 65 to 70 percent humidity and give it a few weeks of rest after shipping.

Factory: Tabacos Cubanica S.A., Padrón's factory in Estelí, Nicaragua

Packaging: boxes of 26 (Padrón also lists a 4-pack); sold here as singles, 5-packs and boxes of 26

Release and aging: Padrón Series, dated by Padrón to 1964; tobacco aged at least two and a half years; regular production

Padron 3000 Natural FAQs

What size is the Padron 3000 Natural?

It is a box-pressed robusto measuring 5.5 x 52, 5.5 inches long with a 52 ring gauge.

Where is the Padron 3000 Natural made?

It is made at Tabacos Cubanica S.A., the Padrón family's factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, using only Nicaraguan tobacco.

How is the Padron 3000 Natural packaged?

Padrón packs it in boxes of 26, and also lists a 4-pack.
