It pairs an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper with Nicaraguan binder and filler. Padrón lists the No. 32 as one of the line's two Red Label sizes, offered for a more robust profile than the original four.

Wrapper and Blend

The Padron Damaso No. 32 uses an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan long-filler tobaccos. The Dámaso was Padrón's first regular-production line with a Connecticut wrapper, a departure from the Nicaraguan wrappers on the rest of the range. It is made in this one wrapper only; there is no maduro version.

Retailers who received the first Red Label shipments in 2016 described them as a slightly different blend from the original four sizes.

Format and Size

The Padron Damaso No. 32 measures 5.25 inches long with a 52 ring gauge, about 0.81 inches in diameter. Padrón lists it as 52 x 5 1/4 in boxes of 20. It is a quarter inch longer and two ring gauges thicker than the 5 x 50 No. 12, and it is the shorter of the two Red Label sizes; the No. 34 is a 6 x 52 torpedo.

Strength and Flavor Profile

TRP lists the Padron Damaso No. 32 as medium in strength. Its flavor notes are cinnamon, bread, cedar, black tea, anise, praline, cream. Cigar Aficionado's review of the No. 32 described bready notes and cinnamon spice, anise and juniper, cedar and black tea in the middle, and a sweet praline finish.

Line History and Production

Padrón introduced the Dámaso at the 2015 IPCPR trade show and shipped the No. 8, 12, 15 and 17 in July 2015. The line is named for Dámaso Padrón, José O. Padrón's grandfather and the first Padrón to reach Cuba from the Canary Islands. The original numbers were reported at launch to stand for the ages of four of his grandchildren. The No. 34 torpedo followed in April 2016 and the No. 32 robusto shortly after. All are rolled at Tabacos Cubanica S.A. in Nicaragua.

Who It Suits and How to Enjoy It

The Padron Damaso No. 32 suits smokers who like the Connecticut wrapper but want a little more body than the original four Dámaso sizes, and Padrón smokers looking for something lighter than the 1964 Anniversary. It pairs well with a cappuccino or medium roast, and with Cognac, aged rum or a wheated bourbon. Store it at 65 to 70 percent humidity and give it a few weeks of rest after shipping.

Factory: Tabacos Cubanica S.A., Padrón's factory in Nicaragua

Packaging: cellophane-wrapped cigars in boxes of 20; sold here as singles, 5-packs and boxes

Release: added in spring 2016, shortly after the No. 34; regular production

Padron Damaso No. 32 FAQs

What size is the Padron Damaso No. 32?

It is a robusto measuring 5.25 x 52, 5.25 inches long with a 52 ring gauge.

Where is the Padron Damaso No. 32 made?

It is made in Nicaragua at Tabacos Cubanica S.A., the Padrón family's own factory.

How is the Padron Damaso No. 32 packaged?

Padrón packs it in boxes of 20, with each cigar in cellophane.
