Arturo Fuente Rare Pink

Arturo Fuente Rare Pink Vintage 1960's Series

Arturo Fuente Rare Pink is the Fuente family's breast cancer awareness line: a series of medium-full perfectos made at Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia in the Dominican Republic, dressed in pink bands and bright pink boxes, and shipped to retailers once a year around October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Its full name is the Rare Pink Vintage 1960's Series, which is why the single-size listings carry a "VS" in the title. Fuente makes a donation from every box sold to breast cancer research.

The project was led by Liana Fuente, daughter of Carlos "Carlito" Fuente Jr., and the 1960's in the name refers to the decade that shaped her father's early life. The first four sizes began shipping in December 2020, and the line grew to six in 2022. TRP Cigars carries all six as singles, packs of 5 and full boxes, plus five-count Holiday Gift Packs for most sizes.

The Rare Pink Blend

Every Rare Pink size uses the same blend: an Ecuadorian wrapper sourced from Oliva Tobacco Co. over a Dominican binder and a filler of Dominican tobacco together with Nicaraguan leaf from the Fuente family's own farms in Estelí. The shapes are the Hemingway perfectos, but the Ecuadorian wrapper and Nicaraguan filler give Rare Pink a sweeter, spicier and fuller character than the Cameroon-wrapped Hemingway line. Body lands at medium-full across the series, with strength a step behind, and the common thread in the flavor is cedar, cocoa, roasted nuts and a pepper that never turns harsh. Cigar Aficionado rated the Queen of Hearts 91 points and the Sophisticated Hooker 93, naming the latter its number ten cigar of 2022.

Rare Pink Sizes at TRP Cigars

Most sizes are also available as a Rare Pink Holiday Gift Pack: five cigars of one size in a pink presentation box, made for gifting during the holidays or Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Choosing a Rare Pink Size

If you already smoke the Hemingway line, pick the shape you know: the Rare Pink Short Story, Signature and Work of Art share their dimensions with the Hemingway sizes of the same name. If you want the fullest expression of the blend, the Sophisticated Hooker has the most length for the Nicaraguan filler to develop, with the Happy Ending the standard-length alternative. For a short smoke with big-ring richness, the Queen of Hearts packs nearly as much tobacco as the Short Story into 3.75 inches. The Signature is the easiest recommendation for someone who prefers a slimmer cigar and a more gradual build.

Availability and Storage

Rare Pink is not a numbered limited edition, but it is allocated. Fuente ships a set amount to retailers in good standing once a year, most stores sell through well before the next release, and the gift packs are usually the first to go. When a size shows out of stock here, the next batch is generally the following October. The cigars smoke well on arrival, and the Ecuadorian wrapper rewards a few months of rest at 65 to 69 percent humidity if you are buying a box to age.
