Description
Dark wrapper, big ring gauge, Halloween box: the Viaje Full Moon 13th Anniversary Maduro is a medium-full 6 x 60 gran toro from Viaje's long-running Full Moon series. A Mexican San Andrés maduro wrapper covers a Nicaraguan binder and filler, and each cigar is finished with an oversized pigtail cap. It is the round, maduro half of the regular 13th Anniversary release.
The Blend
San Andrés maduro is grown in Mexico's San Andrés Valley and fermented long and hot, which gives it its near-black color and naturally sweet, cocoa-heavy character. Viaje has leaned on San Andrés before for Full Moon variations, including the 2023 Edición Limitada. Underneath, the cigar stays Nicaraguan. Viaje keeps its exact recipe private, so the blend here reflects how the release has been listed by retailers rather than a published spec sheet.
Size and Shape
Six inches long and 60 ring gauge, the 13th Anniversary is the first Full Moon offered in this size; the 2025 edition was a 5 x 58. This Maduro is rolled round. If you prefer a pressed cigar, the Maduro Limited Edition offers the same dimensions box-pressed. Plan on 90 minutes or more.
What It Tastes Like
The maduro wrapper sets the tone right away with dark cocoa and espresso. Through the middle, cedar and earth come forward along with toasted nuts and a warm baking spice, and the last third builds toward black pepper while the sweetness stays underneath. Body sits at medium-full.
Flavor notes: Dark cocoa, espresso, earth, cedar, toasted nuts, baking spice, black pepper.
Full Moon Background
The Full Moon first appeared in 2013, when Viaje released 400 bundles of 24 cigars, and it has since become one of the brand's most anticipated fall drops. For the 13th Anniversary, Viaje split the release four ways: a round Natural and this round Maduro in orange-pumpkin boxes, plus box-pressed Limited Editions of each in green-pumpkin boxes. The Maduro's box is black with the orange jack-o'-lantern.
Who Should Buy It
Pick the Maduro if you lean toward richer, sweeter cigars, or if you want a dessert-course smoke after dinner. Fans of the Natural often buy both to compare the two wrappers side by side. Coffee pairings: Espresso, Dark roast French, Café con leche, Mocha, Turkish coffee. Spirit pairings: Aged rum, Bourbon, Port, Cognac, Islay Scotch. Store at 65 to 69 percent humidity.
- Box: black collector box of 24 with an orange jack-o'-lantern
- Release type: seasonal 2026 Halloween release with limited allocation
- Finish: oversized pigtail cap
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Maduro stronger than the Natural?
Both are medium-full. The Maduro tastes richer and sweeter because of its wrapper, but it is not a big step up in strength.
Is this the box-pressed version?
No. This Maduro is round. The box-pressed version is the Maduro Limited Edition, which comes in a black box with a green pumpkin.
Can I buy fewer than a full box?
Yes, we offer singles and 5-packs as well as the full box of 24.
