Description

The Padron 60th Anniversary Maduro is a medium-to-full perfecto measuring 6.5 x 56 from Padrón's 60th Anniversary release. It is a Nicaraguan puro, with a Nicaraguan maduro wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler, made at Padrón's own factory in Estelí to mark the company's 60th anniversary on September 8, 2024.

Wrapper and Blend

The Padron 60th Anniversary Maduro uses a Nicaraguan maduro wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan long-filler tobaccos, all grown and processed by Padrón. The natural and maduro are two distinct blends created for the anniversary rather than rewraps of an existing Padrón line.

The maduro wrapper gives this blend its dark, oily look and a sweeter, roasted profile led by chocolate and coffee. The same perfecto is also made with a natural wrapper, a separate blend that leans toward earth, bread and herbs.

Format and Size

The Padron 60th Anniversary Maduro measures 6.5 inches long and swells from a 48 ring gauge to 56 at its widest point, about 0.88 inches in diameter. It is a round perfecto tapered at both the head and the foot, unlike the box-pressed 6.75 x 54 Serie 1926 80th Anniversary perfecto. The 50th Anniversary shares the 6.5-inch length as a box-pressed 6.5 x 52 toro.

Strength and Flavor Profile

TRP lists the Padron 60th Anniversary Maduro as medium to full in strength. Its flavor notes are chocolate, coffee, mocha, orange peel, cedar, black pepper. Cigar Coop's review found chocolate and coffee up front with cedar, pepper and orange citrus, the coffee and chocolate merging into mocha in the second third, and coffee leading the final third with orange, pepper and cedar behind it. Strength starts near medium and builds to medium-full in the second half.

Line History and Production

Padrón showed the 60th Anniversary at the 2024 PCA Convention & Trade Show with a new band drawing on the brand's earliest designs, and began shipping small quantities on September 6, 2024, two days before the company's 60th anniversary. Only one pair of rollers makes the cigar, so supply has stayed tight, with a wider allocation in 2025. Cigar Aficionado reported that it is only the second time in six decades Padrón has made this type of perfecto, and Padrón has said it plans to keep making it.

Who It Suits and How to Enjoy It

The Padron 60th Anniversary Maduro suits collectors marking Padrón's milestones and smokers who want the sweeter, richer chocolate-and-coffee side of the 60th. It is a long, slow cigar best saved for an occasion. It pairs well with espresso or a dark roast, and with bourbon, aged rum or tawny port. Store it at 65 to 70 percent humidity and give it a few weeks of rest after shipping.
