About Padrón Cigars
José Orlando Padrón opened his cigar company in Miami in 1964. Today the cigars are made at Tabacos Cubanica S.A., the Padrón factory in Estelí, Nicaragua, from tobacco the family grows and ages itself. Every regular Padrón is a Nicaraguan puro: wrapper, binder and filler all come from Nicaragua. The family's roots in tobacco go back further than the company. The Dámaso line is named for José Orlando's grandfather, Dámaso Padrón, who came to Cuba from the Canary Islands in the late 1800s.
Two things make a Padrón easy to recognize. Most sizes are box-pressed, giving the cigar its squared-off shape, and most lines are offered in both a natural and a maduro wrapper. Underneath that, one of the clearest differences from line to line is how long the tobacco is aged before it is rolled. The Thousand Series uses tobacco aged at least two and a half years, the 1964 Anniversary Series four years, the 1926 Serie five years, and the Family Reserve and 50th Anniversary ten. This page holds every Padrón we carry. Use the sections below to go straight to a single line.
Padrón Lines at TRP Cigars
Padrón Thousand Series
The everyday Padrón and the place most people start. Padrón calls it the Padrón Series; the numbered sizes run from the 5 x 50 2000 to the 6.25 x 60 7000, all box-pressed, medium to full in strength and sold in boxes of 26. Every size comes in natural and maduro. Shop the Padrón Thousand Series.
Padrón 1964 Anniversary Series
Introduced in 1994 for the company's 30th anniversary, the 1964 line uses tobacco aged four years and is box-pressed throughout. It is the biggest Padrón line on our shelves, with 16 sizes from the 4 x 56 Hermoso to the 8.25 x 50 "A", each in natural and maduro. The 1964 Torpedo was Cigar Aficionado's Cigar of the Year in 2021. Shop the Padrón 1964 Anniversary Series.
Padrón 1926 Serie
Created in 2002 for José Orlando Padrón's 75th birthday (he was born in 1926), the 1926 Serie uses tobacco aged five years and is a step richer than the 1964. We carry ten sizes, including the No. 9, Cigar Aficionado's 2007 Cigar of the Year, the 40th Anniversary torpedo, which took the same title in 2004, and the round No. 90 Tubo. Shop the Padrón 1926 Serie.
Padrón Family Reserve
The strongest regular Padrón line, made from tobacco aged ten years and packed in boxes of 10. Each number marks a company anniversary or one of José Orlando's birthdays, from the No. 44 that started the line in 2008 to the round No. 95 and No. 96. The No. 45 Maduro was Cigar Aficionado's Cigar of the Year in 2009. Shop the Padrón Family Reserve.
Padrón 50th Anniversary
One size, a box-pressed 6.5 x 52 toro, blended for the company's 50th year with tobacco aged at least ten years. It first came in 1,000 numbered humidors in 2014 and has been sold since in refill boxes of 50. Full in strength, in natural and maduro. Shop the Padrón 50th Anniversary.
Padrón 60th Anniversary
A round 6.5 x 56 perfecto, tapered at both ends, that first shipped on September 6, 2024, two days before the company turned 60. The natural and maduro are two separate blends, and each cigar comes in its own gold coffin, ten to a box. Shop the Padrón 60th Anniversary.
Padrón Black
Padrón's name for its small, occasional releases. We stock the PB-97, a 6.75 x 54 torpedo sold only to shops that ordered at the 2023 PCA show, and the PB-99, a 6.75 x 60 gordo that shipped in August 2025 as regular production. Jorge Padrón places the Black blend between the 1926 and the Family Reserve. Shop Padrón Black.
Padrón Dámaso
The exception in the catalog: round cigars in an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler, mild to medium in strength, launched in 2015 as Padrón's first regular Connecticut line. The No. 32 and No. 34 are the fuller Red Label sizes. Shop Padrón Dámaso.
Padrón Samplers
Factory-made wooden boxes holding one of each cigar from a line, or a mix across lines, including the Cigar of the Year 2026 Sampler and the 8-cigar Padrón Sampler. A good way to try several sizes before buying a full box. Shop Padrón samplers.
Fuente y Padrón Legends Collaboration
A joint humidor of 40 cigars from the Fuente and Padrón families: 20 made by Arturo Fuente in the Dominican Republic and 20 made by Padrón in Nicaragua, both 7 x 50 churchills. Carlito Fuente blended his cigar to honor José O. Padrón, and Jorge Padrón blended his to honor Carlos Fuente Sr. It first shipped in March 2024. Shop the Legends Collaboration.

Natural or Maduro Padrón?
Outside the Dámaso, nearly every Padrón size comes in two wrappers, both sun-grown in Nicaragua. The binder, filler and size stay the same; only the wrapper changes. Naturals tend toward cocoa, cedar, coffee and roasted nuts with a drier finish. Maduros are darker and sweeter, with dark chocolate, espresso, leather and molasses. Neither is a different strength class on our pages. If you can't decide, buy a single of each in the same size and smoke them back to back.
Choosing Your First Padrón
- Want the classic Padrón for a fair price: start with the 2000 or 3000 from the Thousand Series.
- Ready for aged tobacco: the 1964 Exclusivo (5.5 x 50) or 1926 No. 6 (4.75 x 50) show what the extra years do.
- Like full-bodied cigars: go to the Family Reserve, or the 50th Anniversary if you want a longer smoke.
- Prefer something mild: the Dámaso is the only Padrón built around a Connecticut wrapper.
- Buying a gift: a sampler, a 60th Anniversary in its gold coffin, or the Cigar of the Year 2026 Sampler.
Buying Padrón at TRP Cigars
We sell most Padrón sizes as a single, a 5-pack or a full box, so you can try a cigar before committing to 24 or 26 of them. Padrón doesn't allow its cigars to be discounted, which is why a 5-pack or box costs the same per cigar as a single.
Keeping Padrón Cigars Fresh
Keep your Padróns in a humidor at 65 to 70 percent humidity and roughly 65 to 70°F. After shipping, a week or two of rest in the humidor lets the cigars settle before you smoke them.
Padrón Cigars FAQ
Where are Padrón cigars made?
At Tabacos Cubanica S.A., the family's factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. The Legends Collaboration is the only product here with a cigar made elsewhere: its Fuente half is rolled in the Dominican Republic.
Why are most Padrón cigars square?
They are box-pressed, a Padrón signature across the Thousand Series, 1964, 1926 and most Family Reserve sizes. Round exceptions include the Dámaso, the 1926 No. 90, the Family Reserve No. 95 and No. 96, and the 60th Anniversary.
What is the difference between the 1964 and the 1926?
Aging and depth. The 1964 uses tobacco aged four years; the 1926 uses tobacco aged five and is the richer of the two. Both are medium to full.
Which Padrón line is the strongest?
The Family Reserve and the 50th Anniversary, both rated full on our product pages. The mildest is the Dámaso.
Why doesn't Padrón go on sale?
Padrón doesn't allow retailers to discount its cigars. You'll see the same price per cigar here whether you buy one or a box.
What do the Family Reserve numbers mean?
Each one marks a company anniversary or a birthday of José Orlando Padrón. The No. 44 marked the 44th anniversary, and the No. 85 his 85th birthday, for example.
