Description
The Arturo Fuente Rare Pink Short Story Holiday Gift Pack is a pink presentation box holding five Arturo Fuente Rare Pink Short Story cigars, the medium-full 4.0 x 42/49 perfecto from the Rare Pink Vintage 1960's Series. Each cigar carries an Ecuadorian wrapper over a Dominican binder and a filler of Dominican and Nicaraguan tobacco, and is made at Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia in the Dominican Republic. The gift pack is the same cigar sold on our Rare Pink VS Short Story page, in packaging made for giving.
Wrapper and Blend
The wrapper is an Ecuadorian leaf sourced from Oliva Tobacco Co., a milk-chocolate brown, lightly oily leaf that gives the blend a sweeter, spicier character than the Cameroon wrapper on the Hemingway series it is modeled on. Under it sits a Dominican binder and a filler blend of Dominican tobacco together with Nicaraguan leaf grown on the Fuente family's own farms in Estelí. The cigar is rolled at Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia in Santiago, Dominican Republic. Some retailers list the binder as Nicaraguan; Fuente's own release information and Cigar Aficionado both list it as Dominican, which is what we follow here.
Format and Size
At 4 inches by a 49 ring gauge (0.77 inches across at its widest point), the Short Story is the smallest cigar in the Rare Pink line and shares its dimensions with the Hemingway Short Story that made the shape famous. The foot tapers to a closed point that lights with a thin stream of smoke, then opens quickly to the full ring. Plan on 30 to 40 minutes, which makes it the fastest smoke in the series next to the 3.75 x 54 Queen of Hearts. If you want the same blend with more time in hand, the 6 x 46 Signature roughly doubles the session.
Strength and Flavor Profile
The small format concentrates the blend. The first third leads with cedar and a cinnamon-like spice over a cocoa base, with roasted peanuts and leather building through the middle and an earthy, black-pepper finish that lingers without turning harsh. Body sits at medium-full, with strength a step behind, so it reads as flavorful rather than heavy.
Flavor notes: Cedar, cocoa, leather, earth, cinnamon, roasted peanuts, black pepper.
Line History and Production
Rare Pink is the Fuente family's breast cancer awareness project. Liana Fuente, daughter of Carlos “Carlito” Fuente Jr., led the effort, and the full name of the line, Rare Pink Vintage 1960's Series, refers to the decade that shaped her father's early life. The first four sizes (Short Story, Signature, Work of Art and Happy Ending) began shipping in December 2020; the Queen of Hearts and the 7.25 x 53 Sophisticated Hooker followed in 2022. Every size is a perfecto, the cigars wear a pink version of Fuente's Gran Reserva band, and the boxes are a bright, unmistakable pink. Arturo Fuente makes a donation from every box sold to breast cancer research, and it ships the cigars to retailers once a year, timed to October and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Rare Pink is not a numbered limited edition, but like Añejo and OpusX it is allocated: only a set amount goes out each year, and it sells through quickly.
Who the Gift Pack Is For
The five-count pack is the right size for a holiday or Breast Cancer Awareness Month gift, a thank-you, or a first box for someone trying Rare Pink before committing to a full box of 25. The Short Story size suits smokers who want a complete, medium-full Fuente experience in a short break, and collectors who like the Short Story shape. Coffee pairings: Espresso, Café Cubano, Medium roast Colombian, Cortado, Cold brew. Spirit pairings: Bourbon, Aged rum, Cognac, Single malt Scotch, Añejo tequila. The box is not a humidor; if the cigars will not be smoked within a few weeks, move them to a humidor at 65 to 69 percent humidity.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many cigars are in the Holiday Gift Pack?
Five. All five are the Rare Pink Short Story, 4.0 x 42/49; the pack is not a mixed sampler.
Is this the same cigar as the Rare Pink VS Short Story?
Yes. Same blend, same size, same factory. The difference is the five-count pink gift box instead of the standard box of 25, a single or a pack of 5.
Where is it made?
At Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia in Santiago, Dominican Republic.
Is Rare Pink a limited edition?
Not a numbered one, but it is allocated: Fuente ships a set amount to retailers once a year around October, and the gift packs are the first thing to sell through. When they are out of stock, the next batch is generally the following October.
