Description
The Padron 60th Anniversary is a medium-to-full perfecto measuring 6.5 x 56 from Padrón's anniversary releases. It is a Nicaraguan puro offered in two blends, one with a Nicaraguan natural wrapper and one with a Nicaraguan maduro wrapper, both over Nicaraguan binder and filler, and it was made to mark Padrón's 60th anniversary on September 8, 2024.
Wrapper and Blend
The Padron 60th Anniversary comes in natural and maduro versions, each a new blend rather than a rewrap of an existing Padrón line. Both use Nicaraguan wrapper, binder and filler tobaccos from Padrón and are rolled at Tabacos Cubanica S.A. in Estelí.
The natural leans toward earth, pepper, bread and herbal notes, while the maduro opens with chocolate, coffee and a hint of orange; choose the wrapper you want when you order.
Format and Size
The Padron 60th Anniversary measures 6.5 inches long and swells from a 48 ring gauge to 56 at its widest point, about 0.88 inches in diameter. It is a round perfecto tapered at both the head and the foot, unlike the box-pressed 6.75 x 54 Serie 1926 80 Years perfecto. The 50th Anniversary shares the 6.5-inch length as a box-pressed 6.5 x 52 toro.
Strength and Flavor Profile
TRP lists the Padron 60th Anniversary as medium to full in strength. Its flavor notes are chocolate, coffee, cedar, black pepper, earth, orange peel, cream, herbs. Reviewers describe both versions starting near medium and building to medium-full in the second half, with coffee and chocolate merging into mocha in the maduro.
Line History and Production
Padrón showed the 60th Anniversary at the 2024 PCA Convention & Trade Show with a new band drawing on the brand's earliest designs, and began shipping small quantities on September 6, 2024, ahead of the company's 60th anniversary on September 8. Only one pair of rollers makes the cigar, so supply has stayed tight, with a wider allocation in 2025.
Cigar Aficionado reported that it is only the second time in six decades Padrón has made this type of perfecto. Padrón has said it plans to keep making it.
Who It Suits and How to Enjoy It
The Padron 60th Anniversary suits collectors marking Padrón's milestones and smokers who want a long, slow perfecto for an occasion. It pairs well with espresso or mocha, and with bourbon, aged rum or Cognac. Store it at 65 to 70 percent humidity and give it a few weeks of rest after shipping.
