The Fuente Fuente Opus X Rare Black Diadema 54 is a medium-full perfecto measuring 7.5 x 54 from the OpusX "Heaven and Earth" Rare Black family. It wears a Dominican wrapper grown at the Fuente family's Chateau de la Fuente farm, while Fuente keeps the binder and filler undisclosed. It is rolled at Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia in the Dominican Republic and ships in boxes of 10.
Wrapper and Blend
Prometheus and Fuente confirm only one component: a Dominican wrapper from Chateau de la Fuente, the farm that supplies every OpusX. The binder and filler have not been published, so they are listed here as undisclosed. On the shelf the cigar stands out for its reddish-brown wrapper, ornate OpusX band, vintage-year band and a black ribbon wrapped around the foot.
Format and Size
A diadema is a long figurado that tapers at both ends. The Diadema 54 runs 7.5 inches with a 54 ring gauge (about 0.84 inches at its widest), pointed at the head and closed to a small tip at the foot. It is the longest of the three Rare Black Diademas: the Diadema 56 measures 6.25 x 56 and the Diadema 58 is the shortest and thickest. Before the diademas, Rare Black came only as a 6.88 x 44 torpedo and a 7.63 x 49 double corona.
Strength and Flavor Profile
TRP lists the Rare Black Diadema 54 as medium to full in strength. Its flavor notes are black pepper, cashew, leather, cocoa, caramel, earth and cinnamon. Reviews of the original Rare Black describe pepper and spice up front with salted cashews and creamy leather, a growing caramel sweetness in the middle, and cocoa, cinnamon and coffee toward the finish, staying just short of full.
Line History and Production
Rare Black joined the Heaven and Earth series in 2019, part of the aged OpusX program Fuente releases through Prometheus. The three diademas came next, and the first shipment of the Diadema 54, 100 boxes, went out at the end of August 2026. Prometheus describes the line as limited in production and release cycle rather than a one-time limited edition. A portion of sales goes to the Cigar Family Charitable Foundation in Bonao.

The Diadema 54 is for OpusX collectors and smokers who enjoy long figurados that change as the ring widens and narrows. Coffee pairings: Espresso, Café Cubano, Cortado, Mocha, Dark roast French. Spirit pairings: Bourbon, Cognac, Aged rum, Tawny port, Single malt Scotch. Store at 65 to 70 percent humidity and keep the cigars flat so the tapered ends stay protected.
